I received this item in abominable condition with perches shredded, cage walls warped and the clips to hold the cage levels together snapped off. Since the
packaging was in such good shape we determined that this item has sat out on
a shelf for some time and certainly was not inspected before being shipped.
I intended this as a birthday gift for my Grandson, and since his birthday is on Monday and we have no way to purchase another large cage before then I have two
family members who are trying to "jury rig" this together so he can put his birds in it temporarily. I am outraged that an item in this condition was sent out.

K&H Thermo Perch, Large Review

I purchased the large heated perch for my blue and gold macaw to sleep on at night because he always seemed to be shivering in the evening. The first couple of nights, he refused to go anywhere near it and I thought I had wasted my money, but I kept up patience and persistence--- placing him back on the perch and petting/ loving him for a few minutes, until gradually I could move away and he stayed put. By the 4th night, he climbed on it by himself and now he sleeps no where else. His little feet are nice and toasty each morning!
As for the product itself-- I give 4 stars because it works and the bird seems to like it. The one thing I dislike is that it cannot be turned on and off. It must be connected manually each time you want it on. Where I have the perch in the cage is impossible to reach, so I have to plug and unplug from the electrical wall outlet. The only other thing that is not too bad, but takes some getting used to for the bird, is the texture. It is fairly smooth, and I did notice in the beginning that the bird slipped/ slid a lot more than he was used to. I think he has gotten used to it now, so it's okay.
